Pupil Leadership

Pupil Leadership at Ravensworth Primary School

At Ravensworth Primary School, we believe that children thrive when they are given a voice and the opportunity to take on meaningful roles within the school community.  Our Pupil Leadership programmes empowers children to develop confidence, responsibility, and essential life skills while making a real difference to school life.

We are proud to nurture the leaders of tomorrow by offering a variety of leadership opportunities that promote teamwork, communication and active citizenship.

Opportunities for Pupil Leadership

Children at Ravensworth can take on a range of leadership roles, including:

  • School Council Representatives - Elected by their peers, council members meet regularly to share ideas, raise issues, ad help shape school decisions.

  • House Captains and Vice Captains - These pupils lead by example, support their house teams, and help organise school-wide events and competitions.

  • Playground Leaders - Trained to support positive play, the leaders help younger pupils build friendships, resolve minor issues, and enjoy active breaktimes.

  • Eco Warriors - Focused on sustainability and caring for the environment, our Eco Warriors lead initiatives such as recycling, energy-saving campaigns, and garden projects.

  • Digital Leaders - These tech-savvy pupils support others with digital learning, promote online safety, and help maintain our ICT equipment.

  • Reading Ambassadors - Promoting a love of reading across the school, these pupils help with library duties, book recommendations, and reading events.

Developing Skills and Confidence

Through these roles, pupils learn valuable skills including:

  • Leadership and teamwork
  • Public speaking and communication
  • Decision-making and problem-solving
  • Empathy and responsibility

We actively encourage all children to get involved and contribute to the school community.  Pupil voice is not only valued but essential in helping us create a happy inclusive, and forward-thinking school.

At Ravensworth, leadership begins with opportunity - and we are committed to helping every child realise their potential.
